According to Middle East News, Hisham Davoud, Advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister, announced the time of the strategic negotiations between Baghdad - Washington and the level of Iraq's official presence.
He told a press conference with the media spokesperson of the General Commander of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Yahya Rasoul that the negotiations with the U.S. will begin on the tenth of June, and may be held at the FM level, and it is very unlikely for Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to attend in the talks.
The Iraqi official went on to add that in the strategic talks with Washington the Iraqi national sovereignty would be discussed and the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from Iraq would not be directly addressed in the negotiations.
The advisor stated that there are many fields that the two states can cooperate, adding that the cooperation would not be restricted to security and future needs in the fields of training and information.
It is worth mentioning that the Iraqi PM al-Kadhimi and the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed in recent phone talk cooperation between Washington and Baghdad in the fields of economy, politics and security and underscored strategic talks between the two sides.
Kadhimi had earlier held a meeting with the US consul to Baghdad and had stressed on necessity of cooperation and coordination between the two country in the fields of economy and security and fighting against terrorism and reiterated on making preparations for strategic joint talks for stabilizing the region and preventing from any threat for the region.
