Mahmoud Osman, a prominent Iraqi Kurdish politician, told BasNews about the recent Turkish attacks on villages and residential areas in the Kurdistan Region, conducted under the pretext of taking action against the PKK, that in a previous meeting with PKK leaders and officials he had stressed that it was better for the party to consider the conditions of the Kurdistan Regional Government and to refrain from entering the villages and residential areas of the region because they cause danger and threat to these areas.
He added that Turkey has no serious intentions for peace and does not even heed the proposals of other countries in this regard and takes its stand against the Kurds.
He also noted that the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Massoud Barzani, had made many effective efforts to make peace process between the Turkish government and the Kurds, but that his proposals had not been properly implemented and that the peace process failed.
Turkey's attacks, which have been intensified in recent months, have so far evacuated at least 550 climatic villages, killing and injuring dozens of civilians, including children.
