Masrour Barzani blames critics for putting hurdles in front of KRG

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday, September 7, hit out at critics and declared that many people are trying to put obstacles in front of his government.

“There are a lot of things to be said, but we will answer with action,” he said at the laying of a foundation stone for a hospital in Hetit village in Duhok governorate’s Deraluk sub-district.
“If someone does not have sorrow about the [lack of] unity in the country and tries to stir up the people, I would like you to respond to them. The best people who serve you are not those who sow the seeds of division,” he continued, criticizing the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region, like the New Generation Movement, without naming them.
“Those people, who are the reason that the area has not been rebuilt, come and instigate people so that they complain about government institutions. Know who prevents your area from being reconstructed, where 800 villages have been emptied,” he added.
This is the second time that a foundation stone has been laid for Deraluk Hospital. The initial project began in 2013 with an allocation of $36 million, but was never completed.
For the renewed project, the KRG has allocated $43 million.
Once finished, it will have 100 beds.
The KRG expects to complete construction two-and-a-half years from now.
