According to Kurdistan 24 TV, Macron arrived in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, after attending the Baghdad summit, and was officially welcomed by the Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani.
Macron then traveled to Mosul to meet with political and religious figures in the city and to visit religious and historical sites in the war-torn city.
After the visit to Mosul Macron returned to the Kurdish region and met with Nechirvan Barzani and later with Masoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
According to the report, during the meeting with Masoud Barzani, Macron emphasized on continuing to support the Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region.
Macron also met Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani. Masrour Barzani later stated that Macron's visit to Erbil underscores the strength of the friendly relations between France and the Kurdistan Region.
