Iraq denounces PKK 'attacks' on Peshmerga forces

<p style="text-align:left">Iraqi government said on Thursday, November 5, that it denounced &amp;ldquo;attacks&amp;rdquo; by the Kurdistan Workers&amp;rsquo; Party (PKK) against the Peshmerga forces in Duhok governorate.

&ldquo;The Iraqi government condemned the attack carried out by militants belonging to the Kurdistan Workers' Party, targeting the Peshmerga forces in Dohuk governorate, which resulted in casualties between a martyr and wounded [forces]," the Iraqi Prime Minister Media Office said in a statement.
On Wednesday, a Peshmerga member died after succumbed to death and four others wounded in two roadside bomb blasts in the vicinity of Duhok&rsquo;s Chamanke sub-district.
The federal government underscored its "strong rejection of the attack that took place inside Iraqi territory, and promised it an assault on the country's sovereignty, pledging to take measures that would put an end to the attacks that are a violation of the security and sovereignty of the country," read the statement.
Tensions have escalated between the PKK and KDP lately.
Late on Wednesday, the Press Center People's Defense Forces (HPG), which is the PKK&rsquo;s military wing, said that their forces previously warned a Peshmerga force affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) not to approach one of their camps in Gara mountain in Duhok&rsquo;s Chamanke sub-district, NRT reported.
The PKK recently accused the KDP of military build-ups in the vicinity of its outposts in Gara and Metina areas of Duhok&rsquo;s Amedi district, while KDP-affiliated security forces blamed the PKK for the recent murder of a border official near Amedi.
In recent weeks, the armed wing of the PKK, the People&rsquo;s Defense Forces (HPG) said in a statement that it exploded the Kurdistan Region&rsquo;s oil pipeline in Turkey.
&ldquo;Our forces carried out a successful sabotage action targeting Botaş Oil Pipeline passing through Bagok region of Mardin at 13:00 on October 28. As a result of this action, the pipeline at the site was completely destroyed,&rdquo; it said.
On October 31, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) condemned what was called a &ldquo;terrorist attack&rdquo; that targeted a pipeline transporting its oil exports. The statement did not directly attribute responsibility for the attack.
