Peshmerga Commander says Peshmerga forces are defenders of Kurdistan Region, not PKK

<p style="text-align:left">The commander of the Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Region stressed that the Peshmerga forces are defending the region, not the fighters of the Kurdistan Workers'Party (PKK).

The commander made the remarks after a Peshmerga fighters was killed in a Wednesday bomb blast in Duhok province in the Kurdistan Region.
In an interview with BasNews, Maj. Gen. Jamal Eminki announced that on Wednesday, November 4, a number of Peshmerga forces of the 80th Division (KDP forces) carried out a mission assigned to the Chamanki section in the Amidi area of ​​Dohuk province in Kurdistan. They were sent to target the PKK with a bomb planted in their path, and after the explosion, the PKK forces fired at them at the site of the explosion.
The commander of the Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Region added that the place of the explosion was on the main communication road of Chamanki, and one Peshmerga officer lost his life and two other officers were injured in the explosion.
He stressed that the actions of the PKK forces were disruptive and accused them of trying to start a fratricidal war in the Kurdistan region.
Eminki also stated that the Peshmerga forces are the protectors of the Kurdistan Region, not the PKK, and that the Peshmerga have the right to carry out military operations and establish military bases in all parts of the Kurdistan Region.
The Peshmerga official added that the PKK should solve its problems with Turkey, not turn the Kurdish region into a place of war and conflict.
