Ahmed Mahjoub, the ministry’s spokesman, denied any coordination between Baghdad and Ankara for attacks on the district.
Mahjoub called on Turkey to withdraw its troops from Iraqi territory, saying their presence is contrary to the international conventions, NRT reported.
“The relation and coordination between Iraq and Turkey should be based on a unified vision to eliminate terrorism and to preserve the lives of civilians,” he added.
Turkish fighter jets launched airstrikes on the Shingal district on Wednesday. The strikes killed a member of the Yazidi Society Coordination and a commander of the Shingal Resistance Units (YBS), Ismail Ozden known as Mam Zaki Shangali.
The strikes just came one day after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited Ankara, where he met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Abadi said Baghdad would not allow Iraqi soil to be used for threats against neighboring countries.
