Iraqi parliament delegation visits Iran, meets with leading official

<p style="text-align:left">Iranian Parliament speaker advisor for international affairs Hossein Amir-Abdolahian met with a group of visiting Iraq new parliament deputies in Tehran on Sunday.

In the meeting, Amir-Abdolahian pointed to important and strategic position of Iraq in the region said that maintaining Iraq independence and territorial integrity is the most important achievement, IRNA reported.
He extended congratulations for defeating terrorism in Iraq and holding successfully recent parliamentary election and referring to regional and international developments said that in recent years imposed wars in the region were aimed to provide economic interests for the US and its allies.
Amir-Abdolahian said maintaining independence, national unity and territorial integrity of Iraq against occupiers and phenomenon of terrorism is an important achievement for Iraqi people, parliament, government and religious authority, which should be protected.
He said parliamentary diplomacy is an important tool in international interactions and added that returns of Iraq to its own historical position in the region will play a pivotal role in stability, security and development of the region.
The Iraqi parliamentarians, for their side, expressed their view points and appreciated supports of Iranian supreme leader, government and nation for creating stability and security in the region and effective help for Iraq in recent years to fight terrorism and strengthen its political trend.
