<p style="text-align: left;">Iraqi Shi&amp;rsquo;ite politician and the leader of State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, has thrown force behind Fuad Hussein, Kurdistan Democratic Party&amp;rsquo;s (KDP) candidate, for the position of Iraq&amp;rsquo;s president.

It came after the KDP disagreed with Barham Salih as the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), BasNews reported.
Maliki said in a statement made to Kurdistan 24 that Fuad Hussein would possibly win the race as he has the support of President Masoud Barzani.
&ldquo;I wish Dr. Fuad Hussein success. We hope Kurdistan Region&rsquo;s representative in Baghdad would be a strong one,&rdquo; Maliki pointed out.
However, he stressed that his faction wishes that Kurds could unite and all agree on one candidate to preserve the Kurdish unity in Baghdad.
