Kubis' comments came after a meeting with Abdul-Mahdi where they discussed the economic and political situation in Iraq, as well as the reconstruction process for areas liberated from Islamic State, according to the latter's office.
Abdul-Mahdi stressed the importance of international support for Iraq during the next phase of its development, which will focus on encouraging investment, ensuring reliable public services, and creating jobs, NRT reported.
Parliament approved fourteen nominees to the new cabinet last month, leaving a number of important posts unfilled.
The Office of Prime Minister said on Friday that Abdul Mahdi himself would fulfill the duties of Minister of Interior until he chose someone for the post.
Abdul Mahdi was officially inaugurated in a ceremony on October 25, a day after presenting his initial slate of nominees to parliament.
