Iraq national interest is Barham Salih’s main priority

<p style="text-align: left;">A political analyst, Faisal Alifai, stated that the main working priority for the Iraqi Kurdish president Barham Salih is Iraq&rsquo;s national interests.

Salih was elected third Iraqi president after Iraqi dictator Sadam Hussien was toppled.

Alifai stated in an article released on Asia Times that the two Iraqi Kurdish parties of the Kurdistan Demcratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), to which Barham Salih is a leading member, had a tense race to win Iraq presidency post and the issue created tension between the two sides.

He stated in the article that Salih’s strategy and policy is “Iraq first” and then he would try to boost Kurdistan Region and Baghdad ties.
