Abdul Mahdi said during his weekly press conference that talks between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government were ongoing, NRT reported.
He also said that the remaining posts in the cabinet would be filled shortly.
The Iraqi premier’s statement comes at a time when the Iraqi government has decided to stop exporting oil to Iran on tanker trucks in the light of renewed US sanctions.
Ahmed Askarai, head of the Kirkuk Provincial Council's energy committee, told Voice of America on November 10 that the central government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) had come to an agreement to begin exporting oil from Kirkuk via the latter’s pipeline to the port of Ceyhan in Turkey.
Over the past few years, the issue of whether the KRG had the authority to export oil on its own had exacerbated tensions between Baghdad and Erbil.
