Lawek Ghafouri, one of the spokespersons of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government, told the English-language National Emirates newspaper that the Peshmerga Ministry of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region will soon sign a memorandum of understanding with the US Department of Defense or the Pentagon.
He added: Based on this agreement, the US-led coalition forces will provide more military training to the Peshmerga forces of Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
The US-led coalition has stated that the joint efforts and cooperation of the coalition and Peshmerga forces played an important role in defeating ISIS and improving the security level of the region. According to the newspaper report, after a recent meeting between the American commanders and the officials of the Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Region, the Americans have also emphasized their commitment to training, military advice and equipping the Peshmerga forces of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
