Turkey arrests Iranian Kurdish singer Yalda Abbadi

<p style="text-align: left;">Iranian-Kurdish singer Yalda Abbasi was arrested Thursday night, December 6, at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul.

She had traveled to Turkey to participate in events celebrating the Mesopotamia Cultural Center's 27th anniversary, but was apprehended by security at Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, according to Turkish media outlets.

The reason for her arrest has not yet been disclosed. The reports also said that she was with her mother at the time of her arrest, NRT reported.

Abbasi is from North Khorasan Province in northeastern Iran.

She was due to perform on Sunday, along with other artists and singers from Kurdish areas of Turkey and Iran.
