Sixteen YPG fighters were killed in clashes with Islamic State (IS) militants, including one YPJ fighter. Five YPG personnel died in accidents.

The YPG fighters had conducted 152 operations against IS militants in that two month span. 23 IS militants were killed, including one senior leader, the YPG Media Center said in the statement.

“1,644 Islamic State militants surrendered to our forces and are in our jails now,” the statement read.

The statement also said that one Yezidi was rescued during the operations.
