Turkish military has launched more than 576 attacks against Afrin canton in Rojava [Kurdish controlled areas in northern Syria] in 2017, Hawar News Agency reported on Saturday, December 30

Hawar News Agency released a dossier showing a “panorama of the most prominent violations and attacks of the Turkish army against Afrin region lands during 2017.”
The agency said dozens of civilians were killed and dozens of others were wounded due to the attacks of the Turkish army against Afrin canton this year.
“The Turkish occupation army uprooted 11,337 olive and forest trees, and burnt more than 204 hectors of the agricultural lands in Afrin region; moreover, they killed and tortured 54 civilians,” the agency’s report stated.
The People’s Protection Units (YPG) repelled the attacks, killing and wounding 301 Turkish soldiers, the report by Hawar News Agency added. Turkish warplanes and drones also hovered dozens of times over the region.
Turkish troops have repeatedly clashed with the YPG and their allies in Syria since the war against the Assad regime began, NRT said.
