Erbil preparing to hold joint economic conference with Tehran, Kurdish official tells Kurdpress

<p><p style="text-align: left;">The chief of Kurdistan Region ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran said there are preparations and attempts to hold a joint economic conference between Tehran and Erbil in a near future.</p></p>

In a recent visit of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani to Tehran, the premier and his accompanying delegation discussed, with Iranian officials, possible ways to boost economic ties between the region and Tehran.

Abdullah Akrayee told Kurdpress in an exclusive interview that Erbil and Tehran officials discussed economic and trade ties in the three border gateways between the region and Tehran.

Akrayee stated that Erbil Governor Nawzad Hadi is to make a visit to the Iranian provinces of Western Azerbaijan and Eastern Azerbaijan, adding that the visit can pave way for more relations between the two sides.

He added that the regional government is making preparations to invite the governor of the three Iranian provinces of Kurdistan, Western Azerbaijan and Kermanshah in order for them to pay visits to the region in late April to take part in an Erbil conference that is to consider ways and plans to expand economic ties between the region and Iran.
