Salih Muslim refutes political agreement with Damascus

<p style="text-align:left">Former co-leader of Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), Salih Muslim, denied the Kurdish forces have made any political deal with the Syrian government.

Speaking to Deutsche Welle on Wednesday, February 21, Muslim said the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has only reached a military agreement with the Syrian government with "Russian mediation" to enter Afrin, where Turkey has launched an offensive since January 20.

Muslim, a member of the Movement of a Democratic Society, added the Afrin authority had called on Damascus to defend Syria&rsquo;s sovereignty since Turkey launched the operation on the region.

The SDF&rsquo;s alliance with the United States &ldquo;does not include Afrin region as the region is mainly under the control of Russia,&rdquo; Muslim noted.

Hundreds of pro-government fighters arrived on Tuesday afternoon to Afrin, to take a stand against a Turkish-led offensive on the region.
