Kurdistan Region flights resumed late Wednesday

<p style="text-align:left">International flights from and to the Kurdistan Region airports began at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, after Baghdad lifted a nearly six-month air blockade.

The flight teams from international airports of Sulaimani and Erbil have been prepared to fulfill technical measures, Umed Mohammed Salih spokesman of Kurdistan's Ministry of Transport and Communication said.
According to NRT, Salih said the Iraqi aviation authority, through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), has declared reopening the airspace of the Kurdistan Region to the international flights.
Iraqi Interior Minister Qasim al-Araji on Wednesday announced resumption of international flights in the Kurdistan Region&rsquo;s airports, one day after Iraqi prime minister issued a decision to lift the ban on the airports.
Araji arrived in the Kurdistan Region through Erbil International Airport on Wednesday morning to supervise the implementation of the decision by Iraqi Premier Haider al-Abadi.
