Talabani, also a leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), said at a PUK election campaign in Koya, that there are efforts against the region and warned that the region is being threatened by warring sides by Iraqi sides and blocs.

He added that some Iraqi sides are trying to weaken the region’s humanitarian and economic capabilities, urging all sides and political parties in the region to from a strong alliance in Baghdad to counter the threat.

Talabani added that there is a similar threat against the PUK, underlining that the party would resist against the dangers and won’t allow any person or side to endanger the people in the region and the party’s congress would be held after Iraq’s parliamentary elections.
