Some wounded in Kirkuk protest against election fraud

<p style="text-align: left;">A number of people were wounded after Iraqi counter terrorism forces opened fire to disperse Turkmen and Arab protesters in Kirkuk late on Monday, May 15.

Turkmens and Arabs on Monday night took to the streets in Kirkuk in protest of the results for the Iraqi parliamentary election, NRT reported

Violence erupted at the demonstration and Iraqi counter terrorism forces opened fire at the protesters wounding three Turkmen, said Ahmed.

The wounded of Turkmen origin were transferred to Kirkuk Azadi Hospital, the report said.

Several Kurdish, Turkmen and Arab parties in Kirkuk have shown opposition to the primary results of the Iraqi parliamentary election held on May 12.

According to unofficial primary results, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) became the winner after it took a lead in Kirkuk.
