<p style="text-align: left;">A member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Politburo said on Thursday, November 28, that the PUK will hold talks on Friday about delaying its party congress, which is scheduled to begin on December 7.

The politburo member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told NRT that delaying the party congress has a strong chance of happening, but will be discussed intensively during the Friday meeting.
Separately, PUK politburo member Adnan Mofti told NRT that the party will hold the congress on December 7, following the completion of internal elections to select congress delegates.
If the internal elections take longer than expected, then the congress would only be delayed for a few days, said Mofti.
The PUK has not held an all-party congress since 2010 and plans to hold one have been put off for years, amid fears that it would prompt infighting within the notoriously factional party.
It will be the first since the illness and death of long-time party leader Jalal Talabani.
