Al Arabia Al-Jadeed cited a security commander in Kirkuk on condition of anonymity as saying that the situation in the area is not currently stable and several terrorist attempts have lately been stopped by the security forces as the terrorist groups wanted to take advantage of the instability of the province to carry out crimes.
Disputes over the Iraqi May 12 parliamentary election results have caused demonstrations in Kirkuk and the suspected terrorist actions were claimed to have been targeted at the demonstrators, the source added.
