Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, the KRG prime minister met with several diplomats in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, December 11.
Barzani discussed the latest developments in the Kurdistan Region during the meeting, according to a KRG statement.
According to NRT he emphasized that the KRG’s goal is to reach a “comprehensive agreement with the federal government which is in the interest of the people of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.”
In recent weeks, the KRG and the federal government reached an agreement on the Region’s share of the federal budget for 2020. Erbil has agreed to export 250,000 barrels of oil per day through Baghdad starting next year.
Barzani also told diplomats that the KRG was committed to government reform, saying that his cabinet would work to diversify the Region’s economy and develop investment in all sectors.
The KRG said in its statement that the diplomats expressed their support for the Peshmerga forces fighting against Islamic State militants, who have recently staged several deadly attacks in Kirkuk and Diyala.
