<p style="text-align:left">Alarge number of troops from the Iraqi Federal Police arrived in Kirkuk province on Monday, July 2, to preserve security and stability in the province, a commander said.

Commander Asir Mohammed stated that the Iraqi troops will carry out an operation against Islamic State (IS) remnants in the province in the coming days, NRT reported.
&ldquo; So that stability will return to Kirkuk,&rdquo; he added.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi ordered security operations in response to the recent kidnapping and the execution of eight Iraqis by IS militants in Kirkuk.
Baghdad declared military victory over IS in December, after having expelled the militants from all urban centers they had held in northern and western Iraq.
But IS has not completely disappeared and sleeper cells have been fighting a guerrilla war against the government forces.
