Gorran said it has not concealed the party’s support for the national rights of the Kurds abroad as its former leader Nawshirwan Mustafa has expressed it before.
Gorran accused Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu of discriminating between Sulaimani and Erbil by allowing flights to Erbil while imposing a travel ban on the Sulaimani International Airport, NRT reports
“The Turkish government practically, and as stated by Mr. Cavusoglu, discriminates between Sulaimani and Erbil. Several people have suffered in this area due to the blockade on flights between Sulaimani and Turkey,” the statement read.
Such claim by Cavusoglu is a means to sideline from peaceful resolution of the issues and it leads to deteriorating the problem, it added.
Cavusoglu claimed on June 4 that the PKK is based in Sulaimani as a result of support it has received from Gorran and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
There is a small group among the PUK officials who support the PKK, Cavusoglu said citing a Kurdish minister from the PUK with whom he claims to have met.
“PKK received support from a number of groups from Talabani’s party and Gorran. Due to their support, the PKK managed to settle in the city [Sulaimani],” the Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency quoted Cavusoglu as saying.
