Iraq says has not asked international supervision over elections: FM

Iraq’s foreign minister Fuad Hussein said on Thursday, February 25, that the federal government has not requested any international supervision for its early parliamentary elections, currently scheduled for October.

During an interview with al-Sumariya News, Hussein welcomed observation of its elections, but warned that was unlikely to happen if rocket attacks on diplomatic missions continue.
“Iraq is a democratic country,” the minister said, calling those who were behind the attacks terrorists.
“Iran has denied links to the attacks on the US embassy in Baghdad,” he noted however.
