<p style="text-align:left">Member of the Political Bureau of Kurdistan Democratic Party(KDP), Kakmin Al-Najjar expressed support on Thursday for the idea of forming a region for the Sunnis in Iraq.

This came in a speech during a ceremony held today in Erbil on the occasion of the death anniversary of the prominent politician and leader Idris Barzani, son of the Kurdish leader Mulla Mustafa Barzani.

Al-Najjar said during the speech that "forming a province for he Sunnis is a right guaranteed by the Iraqi constitution," adding that "but when officials talk about forming a new region, they start raising the issue of dividing Iraq."

Recently, political parties raised the issue of forming a region for the Sunnis after the Iraqi parliament voted to exit foreign forces from Iraq on the background of the assassination of the prominent Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Forces , Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis in an American air strike by a drone near Baghdad International Airport.
