Separately, fellow council member Farid Asasard told party-affiliated media that the discussion was not completed yesterday.
The General Leadership Council is responsible for many of the internal decisions of the party, including choosing the next general-secretary, who it is expected to select soon.
The PUK held its long-awaited Fourth Congress in December, which party leaders billed as an opportunity to renew the party. It was the first since the illness and death of long-time party leader Jalal Talabani.
