In an updated on Monday, the federal health ministry said that 266 people tested positive for the virus in Iraq. Sixty-two have recovered and were sent home, 23 have died, and the remainder is still under observation.
Salih also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Iraq’s medical and public health workers.
He said that he had been working in close coordination with Minister of Health and head of the Coronavirus Crisis Cell Jaafar Sadiq Allawi, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and WHO Representative for Iraq Dr. Adham Ismail.
