Salih, Mustafa al-Kadhimi stress on Iraq's balanced regional policy

<p dir="LTR">Iraq President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi stressed on the need to completely form the cabinet and support it in order to implement the expected plans, especially holding early elections and realizing the demands of the people.

The Information Office of President Salih issued a statement on Thursday, May 28, saying he had hosted PM al-Kadhimi at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, Al-Sumeriah News reported.

According to the statement, the President and Prime Minister stressed, during their meeting, on the need to accelerate the completion of the new cabinet by nominating qualified individuals and supporting the government to implement the parliament's approved plan by preparing for early elections and achieving the legitimate demands of citizens by implementing the appropriate reforms.

Salih and Kadhimi stressed on taking a balanced policy towards Iraq's regional and international states based on respect for its sovereignty, noting that the country's current crisis must be resolved and priority should be to combat the spread of the coronavirus (Coveyt-19), supporting health institutions to perform their duty in the best way, and providing a solution to economic challenges and the living conditions of all citizens.

The president and the prime minister also stressed that the current stage requires a unified effort and solidarity to eliminate the cells of IS terrorist groups, protect Iraq achievements, and continue to make gains in providing security and stability for Iraqi citizens.
