Katya Zagorito, a researcher at the University of Peloponnese in Greece warned in the last issue of the university's political publication that the Turkish government, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has made its determination to undermine Kurds inside and outside the country.
Referring to Turkish attacks on Syrian Kurds in 2018 and 2019, as well as the recent attacks on the Iraqi northern Kurdish region, she stated that the attempts are undermine Kurdish military capabilities.
The researcher described the Turkish government's move to build large dams inside Turkey as an attempt to prevent Iraqi and Syrian Kurds from reaching water resources and using them to undermine Kurdish economic capacity.
By doing the attempts and destroying Kurdish historical regions, like submerging the ancient city of Hassan Kayf, the Turkish government plans to stop Kurdish society from gaining power and make the Kurds to leave their lands and thereby change the population of the Kurdish regions in the country and make the Kurds powerless, the professor further said.
The researcher believes the present Turkish government is wrestling many economic and political problems and has chosen to suppress Turkey Kurds to prevent them from making any alliance with the other opposition parties.
