Kurdistan Region presidency delegation meets Gorran over elections

A delegation from the Kurdistan Region’s presidency met with the Change Movement (Gorran) on Monday, February 14, as part of a round of talks to discuss the upcoming Kurdistan Parliament’s elections and the election commission, delegation member Dilshad Shahab said.

The delegation plans to meet with all factions in the Kurdistan Parliament, according to Shahab, and began its round of meetings on Monday in its talks with Gorran.

The parliamentary presidency previously requested all of the Region’s factions present their views and opinions on the upcoming election.

The Kurdistan Region’s election law has been amended seven times so far and all sides now agree the law should again be amended again, apart from the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

The parliamentary presidency and the heads of the factions have not come to an agreement on a decision despite holding five meetings on the issue.
