Shami said the attack-plan consisted of two vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices, one of which exploded, killing three ISIS militants. The other was defused and found to contain 300 kg of explosives.
The incident was the 17th attack from ISIS sleeper cells in retaliation against security operations carried out by the SDF in northeast Syria, according to Rojava Information Center (RIC).
The center stated 18 people have been killed in these reprisals from ISIS in northeast Syria, mainly in Deir ez-Zor, since the ISF launched Operation Humanity and Security in al-Hol camp.
The operation, which aimed to combat rising violence and sleeper cells operating in the camp, ended on Saturday.
Al-Hol hosts tens of thousands of refugees and displaced people, many families of ISIS members, and has long been plagued with security trouble.
