Resolving Erbil-Baghdad tension needs direct mediation of big states like Iran and US: MP

<p style="text-align: left;">A member of the Kurdistan Region Parliament stated that the mediation of big countries like Iran and the U.S. are needed to settle tensions between Erbil and the central Iraqi government in Baghdad.

Sarkawt Sarhad told al-Ghad Press that the federal government in Baghdad reiterated on resolving its tensions with Erbil, adding that the direct mediation of big states like the U.S., Iran and the EU are needed to resolve the tensions between the two sides.

Noting that the federal government in Baghdad uses its ties with Tehran and Washington to put the Kurdish region under pressure, he added that Baghdad wants to control all border gates of the region and have all its incomes and refutes to talk with Erbil.

Sarhad reiterated that the immediate mediation of the big states is necessary to put pressure on Baghdad to talk to Erbil.
