U.S. establishing new military base in Kurdistan Region: PUK official

<p style="text-align: left;">A leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Makhmor stated that the U.S. is establishing a new military base in Kurdistan Region in order to settle its forces who are leaving Syria.

Reshad Galali told SNN news website that according to received information the U.S. government plans to settle its forces in the autonomous region.

He further added that the U.S. is building new bases in Kurdistan Region and is also equipping Harir military base near Erbil to settle 1400 forces in the region.

The PUK official went on to add that some U.S. forces have been settled in Shingal Mountain for making easier coordination for future U.S. government plans.

The establishment of the bases will serve the Kurdistan Region as they would prevent possible Turkey attacks in the future, Galali said.

Experts had reported earlier that there are 14 U.S. bases in the region in the north of Iraq.
