Speaking during NRT, Dabagh said that Iran wants to protect Iraq’s territorial integrity and ensure the Kurdistan Region’s involvement in affairs of state. He said that is why Iran normalized its relations with the Kurdistan Region once it was sure that the Region’s leadership was committed to Iraqi unity.

“One-party rule in Kurdistan poses threats to Iran and its support for one-administration governance. Iran does not support the Region being ruled by just a party,” Dabagh added.

“It is normal that Iran knows what it is going in Kurdistan because, as a neighbor, it is not possible to not know.”
