<p style="text-align: left;">Kurdistan Region and Iran swapped twenty five prisoners at Haji Omaran international border crossing on Wednesday, May 29.

The Kurdistan Region handed over twenty prisoners previously arrested and sentenced in the Region to Iran. In return, Iran handed over five prisoners to the Region.
It was the third time that the Kurdistan Region and Iran exchanged prisoners. In doing so, the Region had submitted 130 prisoners to Iran so far and Iran has handed over 16 prisoners to the Region, NRT reported.
The Iranian prisoners held in the Kurdistan Region were convicted of narcotic traffics and use and sentenced to 2-5 years in jail, while the Kurdish prisoners were convicted by Iran of liquor use.
Prisoners are supposed to be treated in accordance to the respective local laws onward.
