Turkey orders arrest of Salih Muslim, puts him in red list

Turkey added Salih Muslim, the former co-chairman of Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), to Ankara’s interior ministry “Red List” and announced a $1 million bounty for his arrest.

The award of 4 million Turkish lira was offered for Muslim’s arrest over his alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK).

The “Red List” has names of the most sought-after individuals, including senior fighters and leaders of groups considered “terrorists” by Turkey.

Earlier this month, Muslim strongly criticized the Turkish offensive against Kurdish-held Afrin, calling the offensive an attempt to change the area’s demography.

On January 20, Turkey launched a military operation against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in the Afrin region, backing Syrian rebels with air strikes and ground troops fighting the Kurds.
