Syrian army on 'high alert' against possible US military attack

<p style="text-align: left;">The Syrian government has put its army on &amp;ldquo;high alert&amp;rdquo; after Saturday's suspected chemical weapons attack on a rebel-held town near Damascus.

The United States is weighing a multinational military response to the suspected chemical attack that Syria has denied to have launched, US officials said on Monday, April 9.

The DPA news agency reported on Tuesday that the alert will remain in effect for 72 hours and that it includes including airports and all bases.

The Russian military said the Syrian airbase was bombed by two Israeli F-15 war planes from Lebanese airspace. Syrian air defense system shot down five of eight missiles fired by Israel, it said.
