Demitry Ternin stated that Moscow enjoys a stronger situation in Syria in comparison to Turkey and Turkey would consider the reality, adding that Moscow differentiates between Turkey rightful interests and its geopolitical ambitions.

Speaking to the foundation, he said Russia is not planning to destroy Turkey and Moscow is not planning to back the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Ternin reiterated that Moscow does not want Turkey to impose its presence in Syria.

He further added that the federal system, demanded and planned by the Kurds in Syria, will not be effective. Russia does not want the system, though Kurds would benefit from the system.
