KDP denies it set conditions for backing Maliki’s premiership

<p style="text-align: left;">The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) reiterated on negotiation among Kurdish parties over who should become the next Iraqi president and denied the party has set any conditions for giving its support to the premiership of former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

A leading member of the KDP, Ribin Salam told Baghdad al-Yaum news base that Kurdish political parties should hold meetings to discuss presidency post, adding that the PUK will likely take the post.

Salam denied the KDP has made any condition to back Maliki to become next Iraqi prime minister and stated that the current question is finding a way for settling disputes between the Iraqi government in Baghdad and the Kurdish government in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region.

He underlined that the KDP have not discussed the post of Iraq&rsquo;s next presidency and prime ministry.
