High-ranking US delegation meets Kurdish officials in Manbij

<p style="text-align: left;">A high-profile delegation from Washington visited the Syrian northern city of Manbij on Thursday.

The US delegation in Manbij included the commander of the anti-Islamic State coalition Maj. General James Jarrard and veteran Middle East diplomat William Roebuck, The New York Time quoted Muhammad Abu Adel, the head of the Manbij Military Council, as saying.

According to Abdu Adel, the delegation informed the Manbij Military Council that the US and Turkish military personnel will only be settled at the frontlines between the strategic town of Manbij and other Turkish-controlled areas to the west.

Abu Adel said no Turkish soldiers or allied Syrian fighters will be deployed in Manbij following a recent deal between Turkey and US.

US and Turkey endorsed a roadmap on Manbij earlier this week which would have the US-backed Syrian Kurdish forces pull out of the area.

He was quoted by The New York Time as saying that "If the patrols are only on the front lines, we don't have a problem with that… But not inside the town."

Abu Adel also added that no role will be given to the Turkish-backed Syrian forces in the town.

Abu Adel said no replacement will happen to the body of his local military council as part of the deal he described as &ldquo;political. There may be changes in the local civil administration instead.

Meanwhile the Spokesman for Manbij Military Council called the US-Turkey deal which allows Turkish forces to enter Manbij, in northern Syria, a lie and stated that the military advisors of the Peoples&rsquo; Protection Units (YPG) will quit the city.

Shervan Dervish told Kurdpress that the YPG military advisors are leaving Manbij and the city would be controlled by Manbij military council and the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), which includes Kurdish, Arab and Armenian forces as well as Turkmen.

He said the YPG forces have left the city over a deal with allies and Manbij military council, continuing to say that the liberation operation of Manbij started in coordination with the US-led anti-IS coalition and Turkey.

He added that a meeting was held in Turkey&rsquo;s Incirlik base and the former leader of Manbij military council, Abu Amjed, attended the meeting and Manbij military council was one of the effective forces in the operation.

Dervish further revealed that the YPG stated at the start of the operation that its forces would quit the city after its mission, reiterating that the Manbij was under the control of Manbij military council at the very beginning of its liberation.

The spokesman also added that remarks by Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and the officials of the country that Turkish forces would go into the city are false and are merely seeking election goals. He denied that any deal has been made to allow Turkish forces to enter Manbij and are remarks and reports are merely media war.
