In the statement, the PUK Political bureau highlighted the importance of the decentralization plan as suggested by the city’s provincial council in accordance of the agreement between the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in the ninth cabinets program.
“Right now, the decentralization matter has become a hot desirable topic for the people and the provincial council, especially after the successful experience of the administration in dealing with the coronavirus outbreak,” the statement said.
Last week, the Sulaimani provincial council demanded the Council of Ministers to implement the Third Law of the Kurdistan Region’s governorates about the decentralization of finance and administration of governorates which the provincial council thinks would bring clarity to revenue flows in the Kurdistan Region.
