ENKS stresses on Kurdish unity to resolve Syria crisis

The Secretary-General of the Patriotic Council of Syrian Kurds (ENKS), stated in a statement that the Kurds must unite to create a democratic Syria and resolve the crisis in the country.

Underscoring on the settlement of the Syrian Kurdish issue and making unity among Syrian Kurds, the secretary-general of ENKS issued a statement, stating that "the council held a meeting on May 12 to unify the Syrian Kurds as well as resolve the Syrian Kurdish issue. The central government still considers the military option to be one of the solutions to the problem, so the international community must put pressure on the central government to start a political process to resolve the crisis."

According to the KRDnews news agency, the statement further added that "Kurds and other Syrian peoples must unite to build a democratic Syria and resolve the crisis. We also thank the U.S. and Kurdistan region for making unity among Syrian Kurds."

In conclusion, the statement pointed to the situation of the Syrian Kurdish city of Afrin as well, adding that "ENKS has condemned the actions of armed groups in Afrin, including human rights violations, looting of property in the region, violence and kidnapping, and calls for punishment for those involved,”
