World won’t recognize Kurdish autonomous Region in Syria: magazine

<p style="text-align: left;">The main reason behind ignoring Syrian Kurds on the global level is that the Kurdish self-government authority in Syria, known as Rojava, has not been recognized, the Open for Democracy magazine wrote in a report.

Before Turkey attack in October 2019, Syrian Kurds controlled more than a quarter of Syria's territory, now their control of is limited to an region in northeast and east Syria and the situation in the Kurdish authority has worsened in the wake of the corona pandemic.

In a report on the poor living conditions in the Syrian Kurdish region or the Kurdish Autonomous Region in Syria, the Open for Democracy magazine has claimed that the main reason behind the region&rsquo;s problems is that the legitimacy of the region has not been accepted globally.

The report noted that the Kurdish authority is not accepted as an independent entity in the world, and that&rsquo;s for the very reason that even the World Health Organization is not willing to provide health and medical aids to Syrian Kurds and has sent aids to northern Syria indirectly through the central government in Syria.

The paper has also noted that neither the Syrian government nor the international community is willing to establish an independent entity for Syrian Kurds and that the region's total problem is that lack of recognition.

Turkish attack on the Kurds in 2019, which led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands, did not face any serious reaction globally, and even world countries are not willing to bring back their nationals who are IS members and are now detained by Syrian Kurds, the magazine said.

The paper has underscored that the Syrian Kurds have no choice but to run their region with the same limited resources they have as the international community is not supposed to accept it as an independent entity from Syria and therefore be in contact with them directly.
