"The Turkish government not only today, but also since it was established, has opposed to any Kurdish moves, political parties, and independent politicians and has always resorted to force and oppression against them," Fawzi Bolgan, the secretary-general of the Islamic Movement of Free Kurdistan told KurdPress about the political situation for Kurds in Turkey.
He added: "In the past few years, a project entitled "Peace Project" was formed, but unfortunately it did not continue and it stopped as militarists are controlling the two sides, both the Turkish government and the HDP.
Referring to the lack of unity among Kurdish movements in Turkey, Fawzi Bolgan explained: "attempts for making unity among the Kurdish movements have always been made and still are continuing, but unfortunately it has not led into any avail since today because every party has its own ideology and theory which leads to lack of unity."
This is not only the issue among Kurdish parties in Turkey but also is found in all Kurdish parties in the other parts of the world, he further said in the interview, pointing out that there are difference between Kurdish parties and they should pay attention to the fact that as the Kurds have no state and it is natural that each one has a specific outlook.
“We are all Kurds and we have common pains and we can unite around shared Kurdish axes,” the party leader said.
He added, "We can reach an agreement over the interests of our people despite our differences. So if we put aside our differences, we can unite in a patriotic way and reach political solutions. On the other hand, those who see themselves as Turkish and don't see themselves as Kurds, cannot talk about unity and forming a coalition. The HDP is one of the parties that is Turkish and not Kurdish.
The Secretary-General of the Islamic Movement of Free Kurdistan said in regard to the government's appointment of trustees to HDP-run municipalities that The HDP is a political and legal party, and the government has no right to designate guardians for HDP municipalities under different excuses. But HDP plans are written by the leadership of the PKK since its establishment to this day and it also carries out political activities under the PKK command.
“For example in the [trenches] war which led to the killing of 10,000 young people, HDP was acting under the PKK order which led to the destruction of many parts of Kurdistan and eventually did not lead to any political or military achievements for the Kurds," he said about Turkey military operation in many Kurdish cities, including Sur district in Diyarbakir two years ago.
Fawzi Bolgan stressed: "This behavior led to the destruction of homes of Kurdish citizens and the cities of Kurdistan and to the public came to the conclusion that the HDP is a part of the PKK. This HDP policy led AKP to act fearlessly in the wake of its ties with Europe and Western countries and appointed trustees to the Kurdish municipalities and removed the immunity of many HDP representatives in the Turkish parliament and imprisoned them later.
The Kurdish politician ultimately underscored that many Kurdish intellectuals and politicians, however, have asked the HDP to cut its ties with the PKK and act independently but until now there has been no answer from the Kurdish party.
