Tariq Xeiraki, the vice president of the Kurdistani Freedom Movement (ŞAK) in Syria, told Kurdpress that his party backs the negotiations between Syrian Kurdish movements as the talks are the negotiations are in line with the national interests of the Kurds in Syrian Kurdistan.
He added: “The Middle East is undergoing radical changes, and Kurds are a part of this process of change and they must be prepared for the change and move towards it.”
“Kurdish movements need to get unites over joint interests and projects for Syrian Kurdistan and support the changes,” the party official further to KurdPress in the interview.
On the creation of a Kurdish region in northern Syria, ŞAK vice president said: “Kurds are one of the oldest nations in the Middle East and the world, and the creation of a Kurdish entity and autonomy within a unified Syria is a possible issue and a legitimate right.”
Regarding the fourteen-point statement released after the sixth session of the Astana Talks between the presidents of Russia, Turkey and Iran, which was held online and opposed to the creation of an "illegitimate autonomy", an indirect reaction to the creation of a Kurdish autonomous region in northern Syria, , Tariq Xeiraki said: "Historically, the governments of the region are against the Kurdish issue and their rights are under the title of autonomy and federalism and the conference was within the policy."
He stressed that the policy of the countries towards the Kurdish issue is clear and they do not believe in the rights of the Kurds.
Tariq Xeiraki explained: “The Astana summit is in line with other meetings and is against the Syrian Kurds' federal right, as they do not believe in such a right for the Kurds.”
