The head of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Reconciliation Party believes the central government in Damascus does not believe in Kurds' right, so participating in the election is meaningless.

Talal Mohammad, the head of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Reconciliation Party, told KurdPress that the elections have no legitimacy as they are only held in the regions under the control of the central government and not all the Syrians have voted in.

He continued, "The central government is responsible for the current situation in Syria and the government's behavior has created the current situation in the country.”

Talal Mohammad added: In the past fifty years, the central government has never implemented a democratic policy in Syria and has governed the country on the basis of discrimination and a chauvinistic behavior.”

Concerning the reason behind the Kurdish semi-autonomous region and the Kurdish parties’ denial to participate in the election, he said: “The central government neither believes in Kurdish rights in Syria, nor has it accepted to them in the constitution. It has not addressed them in its policies; so participation in such elections is meaningless.”
