Davutoglu, also a former leading member of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), discussed the Kurdish issue in a party meeting in southern Kurdish city of Batman on Sunday, July 26.
''Why is the government gets angry when the Kurdish, as one of the main languages in the country, is discussed? I believe the Kurdish should be taught in Turkey as the move will bring social peace and stability,” Davutoglu said at the party meeting.
For the purpose, KurdPress discussed the issue with one of Turkey's old Kurdish politicians and asked his views about Davutoglu’s statements.
“Since the establishment of the modern government in Turkey, any politicians who has taken power has refuted the Kurdish rights and sometimes has implemented violent policies against the Kurds. The Justice and Development Party (AKP)'s policy is within this framework,” Hikmet Sarbiland, the Secretary General of the PÎK told KurdPress about the recent Davutoglu’s remarks.
The party had earlier made pledges about Kurdish language and rights, but then they conducted harsh moves against Kurds and continued their violations not only in Turkey, but also in Iraq and Syria.
He continued: “This policy is a predetermined plan. There is no hope in any Turkish politician and the promises are also lies and only a political show.”
He added: "Ahmet Davutoglu, just like his predecessors, makes promises to the Kurds when he is under pressure but will later take over the policy of the destruction and denial, when he takes the power. Davutoglu served in the AKP for 16 years and was Turkey foreign minister for two years and the prime minister for six years, but what happened?”
“Davutoglu was Turkey’s prime minister at the time of the so-called "trench" clashes and it was during his premiership that Turkey's army launched a war against the Kurdish people, and hundreds of Kurdish youths were killed Kurdish cities were destroyed. One of the perpetrators of this destruction and killings is Ahmet Davutoglu. Davutoglu, like Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan, plans to deceive Kurds,” he said about fomer Turkey PM’s policies towards the Kurds in Turkey.
Hikmet Sarbiland further noted that Turkish politicians have used this policy many times and whenever they come to power, they forget their promises, so there is no trust in them. “I laughed to his remarks when I was listening to what Davutoglu was saying in Batman. They mock the Kurds with these words. The purpose of these kinds of behavior is clear and it is imperative for the Kurdish people to be aware and the history should not be repeated and the Kurds should not turn into tools for the politicians.”
“The Kurds in Turkey are obliged to remain vigilant and not turn into the tool of liar politicians and parties. The Kurdish language has been protected by people over the years, and Kurdish people need to protect this identity properly. The Turkish rulers claim they are Islamists but deny the fundamental rights the God has granted to human beings. In the Qur'an, the Almighty Allah says that the creation of the heavens and the earth, and your colors and languages are in my hands, so no one can take these inherent and innate rights from humans. We don't claim we're better than other people, but like any other people, we have rights and we're no less than others,” the PÎK secretary general added.
Hikmat added noted that: “Like other Turkish politicians, Davutoglu's hand is stained with the blood of Turkey Kurds and he is responsible for the crimes in Cizre, Nusaibin, Hakkari, and other places. All of those things happened during his tenure. Therefore there is no belief and trust in his statements and promises, and the Kurdish people need not to be fooled by them. Anyone who comes to Kurdistan says, ‘The path of politics passes through Diyarbakir. Kurds are our brothers and their rights must be recognized,’ while these remarks are only tools for gaining power with the Kurdish votes.”
The Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Party (PÎK) stressed on the need for changing the Turkish constitution and said: "Unless the Turkish constitution does not change and all citizens are not equal in the law and all ethnic or linguistic groups are not recognized in Turkey, no change will happen in Turkey and the Kurdish people cannot have their fundamental rights. The Kurds should neither be fooled by Ahmet Davutoglu’s remarks nor by the speech does Erdogan make not any other politician and try to establish their legal and non-violent rights through unity.”
